There is many treehouse books on the market, but here are reviews of the ones I consider most useful in creating your very own treehouse and learning how to build a treehouse most efficently:
HOME TREE HOME
PETER NELSON
Nelson tells us all about living in a treehouse – be it a full time home, an office, a summer residence or a kid’s playhouse. In his book he encourages us to belive that one can make a treehouse a real home. There is a lot of guidance on the practical side of designing and constructing a house up the trees. This book is great for someone looking to build a bigger structure than just a kid’s treehouse.
HOW TO BUILD A TREEHOUSE
RON STEPHENS
This is a book that should be a ‘must’ in every treehouse enthusiast’s hands…or in their computer as it is actually an ebook that can be quite useful for someone who wants to start building a treehouse asap but needs some good instructables on how to build a solid, safe and longlasting treehouse. It contains dozens of drawings including some treehouse plans as well as great extras like bridges, ladders or pulley systems. Great book for anyone who is looking for a detailed step by step guide.
BUILD YOUR OWN TREEHOUSE – A PRACTICAL GUIDE
MAURICE BARKLEY
Here is a very useful and personal guide with which creating your own treehouse from a scratch can come to life. This is the author’s attractive record of creative, customised treetop structuress, but it also includes every aspect of planning and constructing so that anyone can build them. Barkley gives us some great guidelines on safety for both the builder and the user, and draws up each step, from the very beginning to the very last detail. Plenty of detailed instructables, ‘how to’ drawings, and photos accompany detailed plans. He also created very useful lists of all things you will need and where to get them including: tools, materials, treehouse plans – designed for one, two, three and more trees, list of trees to build on and approximate costs list. Very helpful and inspiring work.
TREEHOUSES YOU CAN ACTUALLY BUILD
STILES
This is a very practical book that makes your constructing and building works much easier and pleasant. It is a very popular book especially for parents building small treehouses for and with their kids. It contains many simple instructions on how to build a treehouse yourself with a use of very basic tools that everyone should have. It also has a lot of little additional bits that can make your time in the treehouse more fun and playful.
